Speculation arises among Manchester United fans as Edwin van der Sar and Robin van Persie make an appearance at Old Trafford.

Manchester United supporters are engaging in speculation on social media following the sighting of two ex-players at Old Trafford.
Edwin van der Sar and Robin van Persie were both seen in the stands at Old Trafford as Manchester United faced Aston Villa. Their presence fueled speculation among fans. Additionally, INEOS group director of sport, Sir Dave Brailsford, was also in attendance following the recent official announcement of Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s 1.3 billion partial takeover. Van der Sar, who previously served as Ajax CEO, worked with Erik ten Hag at Ajax, achieving success in the Eredivisie, including three league titles and a Champions League semi-final in the 2018-19 season.

A fan suggested that Sir Jim Ratcliffe should appoint Van der Sar to the United board, stating, “Get Van der Sar on the board, what a big play from SJR that would be.” Van der Sar resigned from his CEO role at Ajax in May, concluding over a decade on the club’s board of directors. In July, he experienced a brain haemorrhage while on holiday in Croatia, leading to hospitalization and subsequent recovery at home in the Netherlands.
