Antonio Silva, a young, gifted defender for Benfica who is also apparently being watched by Manchester United and Liverpool, is a target for Chelsea.

The 20-year-old seems to have everything it takes to rise to the top of the European center-back rankings in the coming years, and it is likely that he will soon land a significant transfer.

According to the Sun, Chelsea is reportedly in talks to buy Silva from Benfica, but things are going to be tough because they want his £87 million release clause fulfilled.

This comes after Chelsea attempted to add Armando Broja in the deal and pay a little less than that, but it doesn’t seem like a probable path to success for them.

Antonio Silva is wanted by Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United

Our LFC columnist Neil Jones has previously connected Silva to Liverpool, while Fabrizio Romano has also mentioned Manchester United as a possible destination for the Portugal international.
Since Chelsea isn’t playing at their best right now, Silva may look at other possibilities. League leaders Liverpool would undoubtedly be a far more alluring prospect for a player in his early stages of development.
Even though United is still far from where they would like to be, they will undoubtedly be pushing for major additions like this one now that Sir Jim Ratcliffe has invested in the team.
