LIVERPOOL
Liverpool is poised to surpass Manchester United and sign dream January signing Cody Gakpo.

According to reports, Liverpool will apparently sign a player in January before Manchester United does, just like they did with Cody Gakpo last year.
United had been tracking Gakpo for several months, but the Reds moved quickly to sign the forward from PSV before the January transfer market even began.
Gakpo even told the Daily Mirror that he had believed he would sign with United before joining the Reds, despite Leeds, a Premier League team, having made an offer the summer before.
Erik ten Hag’s team declined to make an official bid for the attacker because they were unable to match Liverpool’s offer, which was estimated to be worth approximately £35 million, according to sources who spoke with ESPN.
Gakpo has been a valuable member of Jurgen Klopp’s attacking team and has blended well into Merseyside. Because of his versatility, he can also play in midfield.
Liverpool may potentially move quickly to sign a further player connected to United during this transfer window.
With Joel Matip, Kostas Tsimikas, Andy Robertson, and Trent Alexander-Arnold sidelined, the Reds are now dealing with a defensive injury crisis.
Liverpool’s defence is currently lacking key players, even though Robertson and Alexander-Arnold are anticipated to return before the end of January.
Additionally, the Reds have expressed interest in signing Nice center-back Jean-Clair Todibo, according to local France outlet Nice-Matin (via GFFN).
For a number of seasons, the former Barcelona centre back has been among the most dependable players in Ligue 1, and in the summer, there were rumours that United was interested in signing him.
Although that deal fell through, CaughtOffside reports that the France defender, who has two caps for his nation, is still of great interest.
Liverpool and United seem to be in a direct competition to sign him, however United could have to sell in order to acquire him. Tottenham, on the other hand, acquired center-back Radu Dragusin from Genoa for £26.7 million.
