For the first time since Jadon Sancho returned to Borussia Dortmund on loan, Erik ten Hag has discussed the winger.

The United and England sensation Sancho returned to Dortmund earlier this week, this time on loan for the remainder of the 2023–2024 campaign.

The 23-year-old left Dortmund in July 2021 for the Old Trafford club in a £73 million deal, but he hasn’t played for United since August 26 due to a falling out with manager Ten Hag. Since September, Sancho has been training apart from the first squad.

Regarding the subject, Ten Hag stated to Sky Sports: “He’s currently at Dortmund. There were problems after he was signed, a year before [Ten Hag] arrived.

“We encountered problems every step of the way.

It is evident that his tenure at Manchester United has not been fruitful thus far. He has since returned to Borussia Dortmund.

“I hope all goes well for him. We’re all hoping he does well there and finds success.”

After Sancho was left out of the starting lineup for a match against Arsenal in early September, Ten Hag and Sancho’s relationship soured, with the United boss attributing it on Sancho’s subpar performance in practice.

In a social media post, Sancho refuted the allegations and said he was being used as a “scapegoat”.

Long-standing rumours stated that Sancho would only rejoin United as a first-team member if he issued a public apology to his manager—something the youngster never accomplished.

He’s aware of what’s appropriate. We have been quite open about that, and his performance was very evident. Let’s end this conversation now. We wish him luck while he is at Dortmund.”

Ten Hag’s remarks run counter to Ralf Rangnick, the former interim manager of United,’s opinion of Sancho.
