Real Madrid transfer news: Florentino Perez prepares bid for Man City midfield star

REAL MADRID are planning to raid Manchester City in the summer for star midfielder Bernardo Silva.

One of the first names on the roster, the 27-year-old midfielder has been in incredible form for Pep Guardiola’s club this season.

However, CalcioMercato reports that the Portugal international would be up for a fresh challenge and that he would like to join Los Blancos.

Silva has now made 33 appearances for City this season, tallying three assists and 10 goals.

Guardiola disclosed earlier this month that negotiations were underway to extend his contract, which expires in 2025.

Following Silva’s impressive performance in the 5-0 Champions League thumping of Sporting, the Spanish manager expressed his desire for Silva to remain at Man City for an extended period.

“Bernardo and the club will decide together” whether or not he stays, according to Guardiola.

Silva made 45 appearances in the 2020–21 season, however he only managed five goals and nine assists across all competitions.

For a player that was part of Man City’s league-winning season the previous year and was nominated in the PFA Team of the Year, it was a poor return.

But with ten goals already, Silva’s goal total has already doubled from this season.

Additionally, Bernardo has participated in every Premier League game for the whole ninety minutes.

“I’m feeling happy right now,” the Portugal international stated in a November interview with Sky Sports. I have always loved the club, and I still do.”
