Manchester United is on the brink of securing a transfer for a highly-rated star player valued at £60 million, known for surpassing Marcus Rashford in terms of assists.
Prior to Manchester United’s 3-0 home loss to Bournemouth on December 9, several players were afflicted with an illness bug that killed French forward Anthony Martial last month. Martial has encountered obstacles in his quest to recover fully.
Since then, Martial has reportedly missed practice with the Red Devils’ starting lineup, according Daily Mail reports.
Although other players were afflicted, Martial is the only one who has not yet entirely recovered. It is made clear that manager Erik ten Hag made the choice to have Martial concentrate on individual training as a means of addressing the player’s present lack of match fitness rather than as a disciplinary action.
In spite of this, Martial’s situation at Old Trafford has clearly changed since Manchester United has stated clearly that he is not a part of their future plans. The club has decided not to offer the 28-year-old Martial a new contract because his current one is set to expire at the end of the current campaign.
Martial has decided to stay with the English powerhouses until the end of his contract, despite Manchester United’s declared willingness to trade the player during the current transfer window.
According to reports, Martial rejected this month’s proposals from Fenerbahce, Marseille, and Saudi Arabian teams, as The Athletic reported. This most recent event perfectly sums up Martial’s time at Manchester United, which has been marked by subpar performance.
The choice to concentrate on private training is a reflection of Martial’s declining importance in the team as well as his current recuperation from the previous illness.
A major chapter in Martial’s lacklustre tenure at Old Trafford is highlighted by Manchester United’s unambiguous stance against extending his contract and his denial of transfer opportunities.
Martial’s future is still unknown as he works through the last few months of his contract.
Football fans will surely be keeping a close eye on the player-club dynamics and any new opportunities that may arise as this chapter at Manchester United is written.
