Jose Mourinho has ‘verbal agreement’ to join surprise club days after being sacked by Roma

Jose Mourinho may be returning to management soon after he allegedly reached a “verbal agreement” in the wake of his dismissal from Roma.

After just under three years leading the Giallorossi, Mourinho was fired on Tuesday. Mourinho won the Conference League with the team.

Roma had lost four of its previous seven games and was in ninth place in the standings when he was fired.

The Coppa Italia match at the Stadio Olimpico ended in a 1-0 loss to rivals Lazio, marking his final game in command.

The legendary Daniele De Rossi of Roma has been called up to take Mourinho’s place, although the Portuguese coach has already been connected to other positions.

Surprisingly, considering his ties to Real Madrid, he has been projected to succeed Xavi as Barcelona manager when he is under fire.

The former manager of Chelsea, Manchester United, and Spurs, however, reportedly has a “verbal agreement” to manage in Saudi Arabia, according to recent sources.

According to the Saudi Arabian publication Asharq Al-Awsat, he is about to be named Al Shabab’s new manager.

After firing former Liverpool player Igor Biscan in late December, the team, which is presently ranked 11th in the Saudi Pro League, is operating without a manager.

It’s said that Mourinho and sporting director Domenico Tite came to an understanding during their Zoom discussion on Thursday.

If he does assume leadership, he will probably have the latitude to bring in big names like Yannick Carrasco and Ever Banega.

Although Mourinho’s ideal position is thought to be with the Portugal national side, Al Hilal did make him an enormous offer of £500,000 per week before Jorge Jesus accepted the position.

Although he turned it down, Mourinho described it as “the biggest and craziest offer a coach has ever received in the history of football”.

He does, however, think he will manage in the Middle East since he is on the board of directors of the Mahd Sports Academy in Saudi Arabia.

“I will go to Saudi Arabia in some free time, but I am convinced that I will work there,” he said to the MBC Egypt TV programme.

“I’m not sure when, but I’m rather certain about it. Although the future is unpredictable, I will undoubtedly work in Saudi Arabia.
