Egyptian doctor claims Liverpool made Mo Salah do something he didn’t want to after AFCON injury.
Egypt’s national team doctor, Mohamed Abu El-Ela, shares insights into Mohamed Salah’s injury during Egypt’s 2-2 draw with Ghana. Despite Salah’s absence, Egypt secured a spot in the next round of the Africa Cup of Nations with a 2-2 draw against Cape Verde. The Liverpool star, sidelined but supportive, celebrated his team’s advancement from the stands.
Mohamed Salah is set to undergo an ‘intensive rehabilitation program’ at his club before possibly rejoining Egypt if they advance further in the tournament. His agent, Ramy Abbas Issa, revealed on social media that Salah’s injury is more severe than initially anticipated, indicating he will be sidelined for 21-28 days instead of just two games.
“To maximize his chances of participating in the ongoing Afcon, the best approach is for Mohamed Salah to undergo intensive rehabilitation in the UK and rejoin the team once fully fit,” stated Egypt’s national team doctor, Abu El-Ela. He suggests that Liverpool compelled Salah to return to England after the injury, asserting that Salah, despite wanting to stay with the team, faces stress in the second phase. Abu El-Ela emphasizes his autonomy in performing his duties, stating, ‘I will not wait for someone to tell me how to do my job.’
“We discussed this with Liverpool and we agreed that we will share it with fans after the game, but Jurgen said it himself. Salah did not want to leave.”
The Pharaohs are set to continue their AFCON journey this Sunday, aiming to secure a spot in the quarter-finals against an yet-to-be-determined opponent. Meanwhile, Liverpool triumphed over Bournemouth without Salah on Sunday and is gearing up for a Carabao Cup clash against Fulham on Wednesday.
Jurgen Klopp’s team face Chelsea and Arsenal in big Premier League fixtures at the end of the month/at the start of next month.
