“Manchester United reportedly initiates a £100 million transfer strategy aimed at offloading Jadon Sancho and Antony.”

- Sancho and Antony Struggle to Meet Expectations
- English winger back at Borussia Dortmund on loan, Antony loses regular starter status.
- Manchester United faces significant losses as both players fail to justify their high price tags.”
Manchester United attempts to offload underperforming duo Jadon Sancho and Antony extend to Saudi Arabian clubs. Despite a £73m investment in Sancho in 2021, the English winger’s struggles led to a loan return to Borussia Dortmund amid a spat with manager Erik ten Hag, with no option for a permanent transfer.
Antony’s goal and assist drought this season, coupled with his struggle for a permanent spot, and Sancho’s return to form issues have prompted Manchester United to offer both players to Saudi Arabian clubs. The Red Devils, valuing each at £50m, aim to recoup £100m, accepting a combined loss of £59m. Earlier, Steven Gerrard’s Al Ettifaq targeted Sancho in the 2023 summer transfer window, but negotiations collapsed over United’s insistence on a £50m obligation to buy in a potential loan deal.

The prospect of pricey January signings in Saudi Arabia is anticipated to be limited, but a fresh focus on acquiring overseas talent could emerge in the summer. Antony and Sancho are poised to be among the most high-profile names available for transfer.
Director of football John Murtough’s recent meetings with Saudi officials at the Club World Cup aim to establish connections and lay the groundwork for future transfers. Casemiro and Raphael Varane are potential targets for Middle Eastern clubs. While Varane might leave Old Trafford this summer when his contract expires, there is also a possibility of an extension on reduced terms. Despite Varane expressing a desire to end his career at United, Real Madrid, or Lens, Saudi officials remain optimistic about persuading him to leave Europe.
