According to a report on Saturday night, Leroy Sane, the German winger playing for Bayern Munich, emerged as the leading contender to fill Mohamed Salah’s spot. Sane, a standout performer for Bayern Munich, had previously revealed turning down a transfer to Liverpool. Departing Bundesliga outfit Schalke 04 in 2016, the talented forward transitioned to the Premier League with Manchester City under Pep Guardiola’s leadership, enjoying a prosperous stint at the Etihad Stadium before moving to Munich in 2020.
The Mirror disclosed on Saturday night that Liverpool is contemplating a move for Leroy Sane as part of their preparation for Mohamed Salah’s potential departure. Amid heightened speculation surrounding his future, Salah has attracted significant attention, including interest from Saudi Pro League outfit Al-Ittihad during the summer transfer window. The defending champions of the Saudi Pro League tabled a verbal offer of £150 million just ahead of the August transfer deadline.
Amid speculation about Mohamed Salah’s future, Liverpool has reportedly considered a record-breaking transfer for Leroy Sane. It’s worth noting that Sane previously revealed discussions with Liverpool before opting to join Manchester City. “Yes, I spoke with them as well. Additionally, Jurgen called and spoke with me. I joined City after that,” Sane stated in 2018. He praised Klopp’s character and Liverpool’s achievements.
