However, the hosts retaliated as Gabriel Martinelli reinstated their lead by capitalizing on a mistake between Alisson and Virgil van Dijk. The visitors faced a setback when Ibrahima Konate received his second yellow card, reducing them to 10 men. Leandro Trossard sealed the victory with a third goal in stoppage time. Klopp expressed his frustration with the outcome of the match and lamented the decision to send off Konate.
