Arsenal set to rival Chelsea for £110m striker target as talks revealed

Arsenal are reportedly gearing up to challenge Chelsea in their quest to sign a striker. Following their significant 3-1 triumph over Liverpool at the Emirates on Sunday, which propelled them within two points of the Premier League summit, Arsenal seem determined to make their mark in the title race. However, their ambitions extend beyond the pitch, as they are said to have set their sights on Napoli sensation Victor Osimhen, joining Chelsea in the race for his signature.

Although Chelsea are rumored to be the frontrunners in the race to secure the signature of Nigerian international Victor Osimhen, they will need to meet a recently added release clause in his contract, which is estimated to be between £100 million and £110 million.

According to the publication, Arsenal have also shown interest in Osimhen, having previously held discussions with his representatives in 2022. Additionally, the Gunners are reportedly considering other strikers for the upcoming summer transfer window, with Brentford’s Ivan Toney also among their targets.

Reports suggest that Arsenal are still deliberating on their preferred striker target for the upcoming summer transfer window, whereas Chelsea have made it a priority to secure the services of Osimhen, regardless of the financial investment required. Despite the 25-year-old forward signing a new contract with Napoli until 2026 in December, he hinted in an interview with CBS Sports that he has already made the decision to depart the Serie A club at the end of the current season.

Osimhen said in January: “I think 60 per cent of everyone is arguing, or the rumour is going around about me linked to the Premier League.

I have a clear plan in mind and know what I want to achieve next.
