Mohamed Salah sent a message to one of his Liverpool teammates after the club’s Arsenal result.

The outcome of Liverpool’s 3-1 loss to Arsenal on Sunday has completely opened up the title race.

Salah, the talisman of the Reds, suffered a hamstring injury while playing for Egypt on international duty, therefore he was unable to play in the match at the top of the table.

Behind the scenes, the 31-year-old has nevertheless continued to have an impact on his team.

As a member of the Reds’ internal leadership group, Salah has already expressed his goal to lead by example for his colleagues. Moreover, Harvey Elliott, a 20-year-old midfielder for Liverpool, discussed the significance of Salah’s assistance in an interview with the official matchday programme.

“I think to the very day I retire I’ll always be learning different things from different players and Mo is a great example of that,” he said.

“Especially because we kind of played the same position when I first joined the club. I signed as a right winger, [but] knowing that it would take a miracle to take his spot!

“I had to adapt my game but there were things I could take from that position into the midfield where I play now: goalscoring threat, creativity and stuff like that.

In all honesty, Mo doesn’t really need to push the other kids as much as he does, but he always tries to push me too.

“He’s a legend both on and off the pitch, and while it would be simple to just concentrate on himself and make sure he continues setting records and so forth, he takes time out of his day to check in with us and make sure we know that he’s always available to help if we need it.”

Elliott also disclosed a communication that he got from Salah following Liverpool’s loss to Arsenal.

Even though he was with Egypt at the AFCON, he messaged me following Arsenal’s FA Cup match in the final round, asking questions like, ‘How did you find it?'” he stated. He doesn’t have to do these things, but he’s a wonderful person who only wants what’s best for everyone.

“To have him in the team and to see what he’s accomplished is just unbelievable and it’s a pleasure to share the pitch with him.”
