LIVERPOOL
KLOOP finally gives his his part of advice for who should be his successor after his departure

Jurgen Klopp is poised to leave Liverpool after nearly a decade in charge, prompting the club to consider potential replacements. Xabi Alonso, a highly respected figure at Liverpool, is currently viewed as the leading contender for the managerial position. However, questions remain about Alonso’s willingness to depart Bayer Leverkusen, where he took on managerial responsibilities in 2022 and is currently in contention for the Bundesliga title this season.
Alonso’s decision seems to pivot on whether Leverkusen can maintain their two-point lead over Bayern Munich. According to reports from Spanish outlet Todofichajes, Alonso is weighing the timing of a potential move to either Liverpool or Real Madrid, both of which have been linked to him.

While Xabi Alonso remains Liverpool’s preferred choice to succeed Klopp, the club is preparing contingency plans. According to the report, Zinedine Zidane has emerged as the club’s ‘plan B.’ Representatives from Liverpool have reportedly reached out to inquire about Zidane’s interest in the managerial position. The Frenchman is said to be intrigued by the prospect of a ‘solid project’ at Liverpool and the added allure of having input into player acquisitions if he were to join the club.
Zidane, who departed Real Madrid in 2021 after a highly successful tenure that saw him secure 11 trophies in four years, including three Champions League titles, has been out of managerial duties since then. Despite reportedly turning down offers from various clubs during his three-year hiatus, there were rumors linking him with a potential return to manage Marseille, his childhood club.
The report underscores Zidane’s reservations about a potential move to the Premier League, primarily stemming from his limited proficiency in English. The former Juventus midfielder is wary of the challenges he may encounter in effectively communicating his instructions to players in a language where he lacks fluency. However, despite these concerns, the prospect of managing Liverpool holds a strong allure for Zidane. His decision, however, hinges on Alonso’s resolution regarding his future, which is anticipated to be clarified at the end of the season. This lingering uncertainty leaves the door open for Zidane to carefully deliberate his managerial options.
