Liverpool make first approach for Klopp’s successor as ‘contact’ is made for number one target

Xabi Alonso has reportedly received Liverpool’s initial approach in an attempt to persuade him to take over for Jurgen Klopp at Anfield.
In late January, Klopp made his departure from the Reds official, implying that he was too worn out to carry on with his duties at Andield.
The German will go down as one of Liverpool’s all-time greatest managers because he has six major awards to his name.
The Liverpool management is now concentrating on potential successors, and the bookies have Alonso, the manager of Bayer Leverkusen, who was highly regarded as a player at Anfield, as their early choice to succeed Klopp.
Additionally, there have been rumours that he is the Reds’ top pick to succeed the Liverpool manager in the summer, and one recent article has revived those rumours.
Next Liverpool manager: FSG to consider shock Championship duo with former Man City No 2 coming into contention
If Liverpool’s attempts to get Xabi Alonso as the new manager at Anfield are unsuccessful, the Reds are expected to make an unexpected move for one of two EFL managers to succeed Jurgen Klopp.
Following Klopp’s statement last month that he will stand down at the end of the season, the Merseysiders are preparing for what is likely to be the most significant move made under FSG’s 14-year reign as Liverpool’s owners. Over his nine years in charge, the German leaves Anfield having led the Reds to six major championships. With Liverpool still in contention for four trophies this season and with the ambitions and, most importantly, the depth of their squad, there may be more to come.
However, the person they select to succeed him will probably prove to be a major turning point for their American owners. To support them in their endeavours, FSG has, nevertheless, resorted to a man dubbed the “greatest leader in history” for advice on that choice. There are rumours that this man has advised one coach, Xabi Alonso, that leading the Reds is his “destiny.”
It won’t be simple to prise the Spaniard away from Bayer Leverkusen, though. With his team leading the Bundesliga, he is vying for the first German championship in the team’s 119-year existence.
If Xabi Alonso’s bid fails, Liverpool is expected to turn to a Championship duo.
MacAnthony then shifted his attention to possible Klopp successors, saying, “We’d love Alonso.” We might not be able to get him since Real Madrid may be keeping an eye on him. Other than that, I don’t know of many candidates who I would really like. Someone in their 50s or 60s is not what I desire. I want someone who can take Liverpool to the next level, or as you put it, Liverpool 2.5, since you’re going to have a new manager.
