Premier League club interested in appointing Gareth Southgate after Euro 2024 ends

After Euro 2024, Premier League clubs are allegedly considering hiring England manager Gareth Southgate.
Although there have been rumours that suggest Euro 2024 may be Southgate’s final big tournament as manager of the Three Lions senior side, he has been in charge of the team since 2016.
The Daily Mail claims that the FA has been planning for Southgate’s possible exit, with Pep Guardiola of Manchester City being considered the “dream” replacement.
With his contract expiring in December 2024, the former defender for Middlesbrough and Aston Villa has refused to rule out leaving the position with the national team.
Meanwhile, BBC Sport reports that the FA wants Southgate to stay on as manager until after the 2026 World Cup because they are “happy” with his performance.
However, Southgate has surfaced as a potential candidate to take over at Crystal Palace, replacing former England manager Roy Hodgson, according to The Sun.
Due to Palace’s dismal performance in recent weeks, Hodgson has reportedly been under increasing pressure. Before Palace’s 3-2 victory over Sheffield United earlier this month, rumours state that chairman Steve Parish thought about firing him.
The aforementioned article also notes that any hiring of Southgate would occur following England’s conclusion of their Euro 2024 campaign, and that it is now seen as a “long-shot” option.
Chairman Parish’s top choice to succeed Hodgson is reportedly former Nottingham Forest manager Steve Cooper, with Lille head coach Paulo Fonseca as a backup.
Kieran McKenna, the manager of Ipswich, is also considered a favourite; Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Graham Potter, and former Fulham manager Scott Parker have all been connected to the Selhurst Park position.
Hodgson will aim to have prevented the Eagles from being relegated from the Premier League by the time his current contract at Palace expires at the end of the current campaign.
With a game remaining, they are currently five points above the bottom three. They take on Chelsea at home on Monday night.
