Erik ten Hag is eager to work with Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong again, and Manchester United has indicated interest in acquiring the former Ajax player this summer.

Although Frenkie de Jong has stated again that he wants to stay at Barcelona, Arsenal should have more hope than Manchester United that he will reconsider.

According to Spanish reports, Barca is reportedly open to offers around £60 million and no longer views the 24-year-old as a vital element of the team. The playmaker has drawn interest from United, who are searching for a new midfield player, as Erik ten Hag is eager to work with the former Ajax player again.

The Dutchman, nevertheless, maintains that he is content where he is and that a transfer to Old Trafford is not appealing to him. He declared: “I’ve mentioned it before, but I would want to stay in Barcelona. Since I was a young child, Barcelona has been my ideal team.

“If other clubs call, I will take the call, of course; It is something that is always done I don’t want to talk about rumours anymore. I feel good at Barcelona.”

Although De Jong acknowledges that he is aware of United’s interest, he will not say whether or not he has spoken with Ten Hag.

He added: “Of course, I hear about the links to Manchester United, but the people in charge of Barca didn’t tell me anything. So then I will assume that there is no agreement, nothing to worry about.

“I won’t tell you this,” he said in response when asked if he had conversations with Ten Hag. If this were also about another manager or team, I wouldn’t tell you about it.”
