Florentino Perez stance on Kylian Mbappe to Real Madrid move
The protracted story of Kylian Mbappe’s transfer to Real Madrid may finally come to a close this summer. The French World Cup winner’s current contract with PSG is about to expire at the end of the current campaign, and the likelihood of an extension seems dimmer by the day. And Santiago Bernabeu does appear to be his most likely destination if he were to depart.
Since his time at AS Monaco, Mbappe has been connected to a transfer to Real Madrid. There have been multiple times when a transfer has seemed possible. However, it has never happened for whatever reason.
Similar circumstances occurred for us a few years ago when Mbappe’s contract was about to expire and it appeared like he would eventually sign with Real Madrid. In fact, when he performed at Santiago Bernabeu, the audience cheered for him. Nevertheless, the Frenchman would later sign a brief extension with PSG.
Florentino Perez is one man who is anticipated to have a major role if the Mbappe transfer happens. He also appears to have a strong opinion on the subject.
Florentino Perez stance on Kylian Mbappe to Real Madrid move
Perez believes he has done everything in his power to sign Mbappe, as The Athletic reports. The president of Real Madrid continues to think and hope that he will agree. In the negotiations, he has been “unusually closely” involved.
One may argue that Real Madrid hasn’t made a marquee acquisition since acquiring Eden Hazard in 2019. Mbappe would undoubtedly meet the requirements in every way.
He is the kind of player that can represent the team and help build Real Madrid’s reputation around the world. However, Mbappe’s club career has somewhat stagnated at PSG as they have failed to contend for the Champions League; a transfer to Santiago Bernabeu could help.
