When asked whether Liverpool would recruit Kylian Mbappe after his Paris Saint-Germain decision, Ibrahima Konate responded in a way that was quite telling.

After his current contract expires at the end of the current campaign, Mbappe will depart PSG. He has informed club president Nasser Al-Khelaifi of his decision.

Mikel Arteta affirmed Arsenal’s interest in Mbappe during his Friday pregame press conference.

Even to make a contentious trade offer for the great forward, the Gunners have been instructed.

Over the years, Mbappe has also been linked to Liverpool. On Saturday, following their 4-1 victory over Brentford, Konate was questioned about his fellow countryman’s circumstances.

He said, “In all honesty, do you really think he’s going to come to Liverpool?” in response to the question of whether the 25-year-old will join the Premier League team.

The defender laughed as he said, “We don’t think about him, we all know where he’s going to go.”

Konate appears to be making reference to Real Madrid, who are the favourites to sign Mbappe this summer and pay a premium for his services.

Even though Mbappe is expected to depart Anfield at the end of the season, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp was questioned about him as well.

The German said that if ‘all the major clubs’ were vying for the World Cup winner, he would be’surprised’.

“Obviously, I’m not involved in that, but I can tell you I’d be surprised if all the top clubs were [in for him],” he said. “The top clubs I know, for most of them it will be tricky – wages, signing-on fee.”

After attending PSG for a while, Mbappe appears to be headed to Real, who have been watching him for a while.

With 290 games throughout all competitions, he has an outstanding tally of 243 goals for the Parisians.
