Liverpool ‘submit rival offers to Kylian Mbappe’ as PSG transfer saga takes new twist
According to a recent report, Manchester United and Liverpool have made competing offers to recruit Kylian Mbappe, the forward for PSG, this summer.
Mbappe chose not to sign a contract extension, thus he has informed PSG, according to The Athletic, that he will be leaving the team as a free agent this summer.
The Frenchman reportedly told his PSG teammates of his choice, but he hasn’t disclosed the name of the squad he plans to join, according to RMC Sport.
With four English teams connected to a move for Mbappe—Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester City, and Manchester United—the Frenchman’s future is beginning to appear a little less certain.
In order to make a major acquisition in his first summer as the club’s football operations manager, incoming minority owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe is reportedly considering making an approach to Mbappe’s entourage. This information comes from the French outlet Le10Sport.
Additionally, it is reported that Mbappe and Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp have spoken on the phone multiple times; however, the site also notes that the German star’s probable departure at the conclusion of the season will probably hurt the Reds’ chances.
In the meantime, rumours of a transfer to Real Madrid keep popping up.
He will be joining Real Madrid, according to Spanish publication Marca, which also claims he has already inked a five-year contract. He would become one of the team’s highest paid players upon entering as a free agent in July.
Unlike other situations where Real has denied any interest in the France captain, Real has not yet made a public statement on the situation.
If the forward signs a deal, Los Blancos have a deadline by which to make the announcement, according to BBC Sport.
As soon as it is confirmed that Real and PSG will not be playing each other in the Champions League this season, Mbappe is reportedly expected to make his Real Madrid debut.
Both teams are in a position to go to the quarterfinals as they are presently in the competition’s last 16 and have leads from their first leg ties.
The draw for that round, as well as the semi-finals and final, will take place on Friday, March 15. The remaining eight matches will occur between April 30 and May 8.
