Liverpool have Xabi Alonso alternative lined up with Man Utd target the next ‘strongest candidate’

It has been reported that Liverpool have found the perfect replacement for Xabi Alonso in case the Spaniard declines the chance to take over at Anfield in the summer.

Although Alonso is favoured to succeed him at Liverpool at the end of the current campaign, Bayern Munich is also rumoured to be interested in hiring the Bayer Leverkusen manager. Alonso might even want to join the Bavarian team, according to Sky Germany, given the club recently revealed Thomas Tuchel will be leaving in the summer.

If the Reds lose out on signing Alonso, they would try to persuade Sporting manager Ruben Amorim to join the Anfield team, as reported by Miguel Delaney of the Independent.

According to the article, should Alonso decide to go elsewhere, Amorim is considered the “most desirable candidate

After decades of dominance from Benfica and Porto, the Portuguese manager, who had previously been regularly linked to Manchester United, has done a remarkable job of bringing Sporting back to greatness.

At the moment, Amorim is reportedly thought to be a more likely choice than Roberto De Zerbi of Brighton.

Since he has led Leverkusen to an undefeated season and a five-point lead at the top of the Bundesliga, Alonso is widely considered the front-runner for the Liverpool position.

However, the majority of elite teams are interested in the Spaniard, with Barcelona, Munich, and Liverpool being among them.

Liverpool is now searching for a technical staff member and a sporting director.

Florian Plettenberg of Sky Germany reports that Alonso is more likely to accept the Bayern position than to transfer to Liverpool.

Plettenberg stated: “All of the Bayern managers are aware of the challenges associated with Xabi Alonso’s potential transfer to Bayern Munich, but it’s not certain that he will say “yes” to FC Bayern.

However, from what I understand, Xabi Alonso would prefer to sign with Bayern Munich at this time rather than Liverpool.

“And I can also tell you about this news.” Although Xabi Alonso has already been the subject of an inquiry from Bayern Munich, we have also learned that Liverpool has also been inquiring about the player in recent days and weeks.
