Xabi Alonso officially speaks on his future rumours

Xabi Alonso, the manager of Bayer Leverkusen, is the subject of rumours that he could take over as manager of Bayern Munich or Liverpool. Alonso has made an effort to play down the rumours regarding his future, choosing instead to concentrate on his current position at Leverkusen. Alonso took over as manager of the team in 2022 and led Leverkusen to the top of the Bundesliga, where they are now in the running for their first league championship.

Alonso’s name has surfaced as a possible choice to take over as manager of Bayern Munich and Liverpool. The rumoured departure of Jurgen Klopp from Liverpool, where Alonso played for five successful years, has sparked discussion about who will replace him. In a similar vein, Thomas Tuchel’s exit at the end of the season has Bayern Munich, where Alonso finished his playing career after three seasons, looking for a new manager. Even though it would be tempting to go back to his old teams, Alonso is devoted to his current position and wants to succeed even more with Bayer Leverkusen.

Alonso is presently one of the favourites for both positions, but when questioned about his future before of Leverkusen’s match against Mainz, he declined to comment. He answered, “I am the coach of Bayer Leverkusen right now, and that’s certain.”
