ESPN Pundits blamed Jurgen Klopp and one player in Liverpool for player recent poor performance

‏Cody Gakpo’s poor start at Liverpool has been attributed to Jurgen Klopp, according to ESPN Pundits, while colleague Darwin Nunez believes there are other factors at play.

Gakpo was PSV Eindhoven’s first £37 million acquisition in January. The 23-year-old joined fresh off an incredibly impressive half-year in the Netherlands, when he contributed 30 goals in just 24 games

The Dutchman scored his first goal for Liverpool by finishing an inch-perfect cross from Trent Alexander-Arnold.

He also displayed flashes of the explosiveness that the Premier League will require of him as he turns the ball on and breaks free from an Everton defender in a counterattack that happens at a breakneck pace.

Jurgen Klopp has typically assigned him the responsibility of leading the queue. Gakpo is willing to lead the assault, although this is a relatively new role for him.

Klopp at fault for Gakpo struggles?

His majority of PSV appearances were made on the left wing. During the World Cup, Louis van Gaal used him mostly as a centre striker, but he was frequently dropped deeper or used as a backup.

Now, vocal commentator Rafael Van der Vaart has stated that Klopp made a serious mistake by starting Gakpo up front, via the Liverpool Echo.

“Look, a lot of elite clubs will show interest in you if you host the kind of tournament he did in Qatar.

However, in my opinion, they have signed a player who has spent his whole playing career as a left winger and who has represented his country as a number 10, or second striker. and he’s switching to being a striker now? He’s not a forward!

“Cody is most dangerous when he has space to play and can run with the ball.”

“Why is he being used as a number nine? That’s the biggest problem he has at Liverpool.” He is a left-winger with the ability to penetrate and create danger there.

The fact that Darwin Nunez, the centre forward, has moved to the left flank as a result of Gakpo playing up front has made Klopp’s decision even more unexpected. The two players are essentially playing in one other’s favoured positions.

Nunez highlights different reason for stuttering Gakpo start

Nevertheless, Nunez—who has recently  reached the pinnacles at Anfield —identified a different cause for Gakpo’s early difficulties.

Nunez is unconcerned about Liverpool’s new front man, in part because Gakpo is new to the league and most young players require time to adjust.

Nunez said to Liverpool’s club media, “I have teammates here at Liverpool who are all high-quality footballers.”

“I need to be able to comprehend their gameplay a little better, and they need to understand me in return. That’s the main goal of getting comfortable with each other’s games.

“I become accustomed to their playing style as they become accustomed to mine. I believe that eventually we’ll start to see some excellent outcomes.

Gakpo, for instance, is a very classy and talented player. He is also physically strong. He’ll be able to provide a lot of joy to people at Liverpool, in my opinion.

You also need to realise that he arrived during a period when we weren’t at our best and that he would require some time to adjust.
