Liverpool star rescues young mascot amid ugly Nottingham Forest scenes following controversy

Following Saturday’s thrilling 1-0 loss, Nottingham Forest supporters were expressing their dissatisfaction with the officiating when a Liverpool player took a small mascot away from them.
Darwin Nunez gave Liverpool the lead in the 99th minute on Saturday, enabling them to overcome relegation-threatened Forest.
Despite their best efforts, Nuno Espirito Santo’s team was finally unable to hold off a late corner, which gave Nunez the opportunity to nod in Alexis Mac Allister’s long cross.
Although the outcome gave Liverpool a temporary four-point lead at the top of the Premier League, Forest was extremely frustrated.
The fact that the game had been stopped due to a head injury and that Liverpool had regained possession of the ball just before the winner was scored infuriated the fans the most.
Minutes before the thrilling winner, it was eventually confirmed that referee Paul Tierney ought to have given Forest the ball back.
At full time, chaotic scenes played out, with Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis even making an appearance on the pitch as others argued with the authorities. Another person sent off for Forest was Steven Reid, one of the coaches.
After the goal, a video of enraged Forest supporters hurling their displeasure towards the Liverpool bench emerged, escalating the intensity of the atmosphere.
The footage shows Reds left-back Andy Robertson shielding a child mascot from the wrath of the Forest fans.
SPORTbible has reached out to Liverpool and Nottingham Forest over the incident.

“I will not comment on the referee,” Forest boss Nuno said in his press conference after the game.
“Please don’t push for it; it won’t work out well. Without a doubt, it will come up for discussion during the week. I hope better decisions are made.”
“I am proud of the boys, but it is difficult to accept. They performed flawlessly right up until the very end.
“We limited Liverpool, a fantastic team, with a very good game.” It was a good football game; we had chances, they had opportunities. We had ample opportunity and ought to do better. Although we played well, the clinical team had the advantage in the score.
“Our fans deserve to go home happy and they are not.”
