LIVERPOOL
Liverpool contact representatives of midfielder with 27 goal contributions this season
Florian Wirtz is a midfielder for Bayer Leverkusen who is being pursued by Liverpool and Manchester City.
Both clubs are reportedly in communication with the player’s representation and may try to make a bid for him at the end of the season, according to a report from HITC.
In the long run, the 20-year-old midfielder may prove to be a vital member of the two English teams, since he is now considered one of the best prospects in European football.
He is the kind of attacking midfielder that Liverpool could really use, as he is also able to operate in wide areas. The 20-year-old will bolster Liverpool’s offence with goals and originality. This season, he has 17 assists and 10 goals in all competitions.
It is unclear if Liverpool is willing to pay a high price for the midfield player, who is expected to command a premium in the summer transfer window.
Manchester City is also keeping tabs on his circumstances in the interim. But the titans of the Premier League already have talents like Kevin De Bruyne, Bernardo Silva, and Phil Foden at their disposal. Given their similar skill sets, it is unclear if Manchester City is willing to spend more for the German.
Florian Wirtz would improve Liverpool
If Wirtz receives a solid offer, he might be persuaded to join the Premier League. He would get to play with elite players and contend for significant trophies, which would be an exciting advancement in his career.
Liverpool has a history of developing young players, and they have the ability to help the 20-year-old realise his enormous potential.
Additionally, Liverpool has been linked to a move for Xabi Alonso, the manager of Bayer Leverkusen. They may have an advantage in the competition to sign Wirtz if they choose to name the Spanish manager in the summer.
Instead of moving to Manchester City, the German midfielder may be more interested in rejoining Alonso at Liverpool. In any case, he will probably be a costly addition, so it will be fascinating to see if the two English teams are willing to shell out a lot of money for him.
