MANCHESTER CITY
Man City make FA Cup history by beating Newcastle United to secure semi-final place

When Manchester City defeated Newcastle United on Saturday, they broke the previous FA Cup record.
At the Etihad Stadium, City easily defeated Newcastle 2-0 to secure their spot in the FA Cup semifinals.
When Bernardo Silva’s shot deflected wickedly off Dan Burn’s boot and went over Martin Dubravka’s head, Pep Guardiola’s team seized an early lead.
Fifteen minutes later, Silva scored again through a deflection, but this time the unlucky Newcastle defender was Sven Botman. Lightning struck twice.
The victory maintained City’s chances of keeping the triple crown they won the previous season and making history as the first side to win trebles in back-to-back seasons.
City created more history with their victory on Saturday. They broke and set numerous records the previous season.
For the sixth consecutive season, City will make an FA Cup semi-final appearance—a record never before attained.
The last time City failed to advance to the competition’s semifinals was in the 2017–18 season, when Guardiola’s legendary team unexpectedly lost to Wigan Athletic in the fifth round.
It’s a noteworthy accomplishment, even though City hasn’t performed well in those semifinals.
Three of City’s last five FA Cup semifinal appearances have ended in defeat, including back-to-back losses in 2020, 2021, and 2022.

They broke their last-four curse the previous season, first upsetting archrivals Manchester United 2-1 in the semifinals and then Sheffield United 3-0.
Following Coventry City’s incredible 3-2 victory over Wolves, City has been added to the semi-final draw hat-pool.
After taking the lead at Molineux, Coventry gave up twice in the last six minutes of regulation time.
As the fairytale appeared to be coming to an end, Mark Robins’ team scored twice in injury time to complete an incredible comeback victory.
City and Coventry will be joined in the final four by the winners of Chelsea vs Leicester and Man United vs Liverpool
