Liverpool flop called ‘the worst signing of the Jurgen Klopp era’ is now viewed as ‘untouchable’ at new club

At his new club, a player who was formerly considered a Liverpool washout and dubbed “the worst signing of the Jurgen Klopp era” is currently experiencing a career comeback.

A number of midfield players, notably Jordan Henderson, Fabinho, and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, left Liverpool during the summer transfer window. Arthur Melo was among many leaving the club; he was soon forgotten at Anfield.

Melo was signed by Barcelona on a loan from Juventus last summer, bringing with him 72 matches and a La Liga championship to give Jurgen Klopp more alternatives in the midfield. The 27-year-old did, however, only end up playing in one Champions League game for Liverpool, a 13-minute cameo in a 4-1 loss to Napoli.

Due to a thigh injury that necessitated surgery, Melo was out for a considerable amount of time. Liverpool paid almost £342,857 per touch for Melo’s services at Merseyside, a figure that shocked supporters. Melo was dubbed the worst signing made by Klopp by Paul Machin of the Redmen TV YouTube channel.

Melo returned to Juventus at the end of the season, but he continued to have good contacts with Klopp. Now, he’s again on loan, this time with Fiorentina, who made it to the UEFA Conference League final.

Melo has made appearances in each of Fiorentina’s five games this season, indicating that his career comeback is off to a solid start. After overcoming Rapid Wien in a play-off, Fiorentina, who presently stands eighth in Serie A with four points out of a possible nine, has moved to the Conference League group stages.

Local media has taken note of Melo’s strong performance, even dubbing him “untouchable” after his impressive start. The former Gremio player is confident that he has overcome his injury woes, stating, “I am different than before, I am better. I learned a lot and feel in good shape both mentally and physically. At Fiorentina, I want to win and learn, then we’ll see what happens.”
