LIVERPOOL STAR ACCEPT MOVE TO SPANISH GIANT AFTER REFUSAL TO RENEW CONTRACT

The contract for Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold expires in the summer, and Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano has now stated that Real Madrid, one of Spain’s biggest teams, is keeping an eye on his circumstances in preparation for a potential transfer.

The Reds would be in serious trouble if they lost the England international, especially if he left for free. The Merseyside team may have to cash in during the summer transfer window later this year to prevent him from going for nothing unless they can persuade him to sign a new contract, so it might be a crucial window in determining his future.

Real Madrid Monitoring Alexander-Arnold

Although Alexander-Arnold’s contract is set to expire next summer, Italian writer Romano has now revealed that Liverpool has not yet started negotiations with the player about a new agreement. Jordan Henderson, the former captain, called Alexander-Arnold “outstanding.” Real Madrid of La Liga is keeping an eye on his contract status, but as of yet, the Reds have not expressed a willingness to sell.

There are only a little more than 12 months left on his £192k-per-week deal, thus Liverpool is in a precarious position to negotiate should Madrid present them with an offer. Although there is no assurance the academy graduate would want to leave Anfield, the Reds will want to make sure he doesn’t even get a proposition by having him sign.

One potential concern for Liverpool is that a portion of their team may not be ready to commit to the team in the long run until they have a better understanding of the direction the team is taking. They may wish to look at who will be in charge next season given Jurgen Klopp just declared that he will be departing Anfield at the end of the current campaign.

Not only does Alexander-Arnold’s contract end next summer, but the futures of Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk are also in doubt.
