Liverpool fans blast one player despite crucial win against Brighton

Despite Liverpool’s important victory over Brighton and Hove Albion, some of the supporters targeted a single player.
Liverpool had the opportunity to reclaim the top spot in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon, ahead of Manchester City’s match against Arsenal later in the evening. But, Danny Welbeck gave Brighton the lead within two minutes, shocking Jurgen Klopp’s team.
When Mohamed Salah’s header was glanced in by Luis Diaz in the 27th minute, Liverpool pulled even.
The Reds’ main man, Mohamed Salah, scored a major goal in the second half in the 65th minute after a lovely assist from Alexis Mac Allister. Liverpool moved three clear of Arsenal and four clear of City as they held on for three crucial points.
However, despite securing a crucial victory, Liverpool supporters expressed dissatisfaction with Cody Gakpo, who substituted Diaz in the final moments of the match.
On social media, one fan remarked, “Is Torres still on the bench? If so, substitute Gakpo out and bring him in.”
Another Twitter user expressed frustration, stating, “The tracking back from Gakpo was abysmal. He’s only been on the field for 4 minutes.”
A third fan voiced concerns, saying, “Cody Gakpo has become a liability whenever he enters the game.”
Someone else also wrote: “Cody Gakpo is jogging. You just came on few minutes ago.”
A fifth person commented: “Is Cody Gakpo injured? Why is he playing like this? He came on 5 minutes ago and already looks gassed. What’s wrong with him?”
Another fan also said: “I’ll generally defend Cody Gakpo but man what are you doing dribbling into the box in the last minute of stoppage time in a 2-1 match, just go to the f**king corner flag.”
Following the match, former Manchester United captain Roy Keane showered Mac Allister with praise. Speaking on Sky Sports, Keane remarked, “Mac Allister is an intelligent footballer. I’m thoroughly impressed with him. Mo Salah displayed a delightful first touch for the goal. It’s attractive football, indeed.”
The spotlight now shifts to the Etihad Stadium as City and Arsenal prepare for an enticing Premier League showdown.
