LIVERPOOL
Liverpool key player set to miss out of the rest of the season

Joel Matip is expected to remain sidelined for the remainder of Liverpool’s season. The defender has been out of action for the past four months following an ACL injury sustained during a 4-3 victory over Fulham on December 3rd.
Matip underwent surgery and has been undergoing rehabilitation since then. Although he has returned to running on the grass at the AXA Training Centre, it is unlikely that he will feature again in
Liverpool’s Premier League title campaign. Manager Klopp provided an update, stating,
“Joel is running. He hates that but he’s able to run again so that’s good. Since he got injured, this is the best moment because it was very painful at the beginning. Very painful for him. He got through that, is pain-free but that now all takes time. I don’t think this season is long enough.”
Meanwhile, Andy Robertson is expected to be fit for Liverpool’s match against Sheffield United. The left-back suffered an ankle injury while playing for Scotland in a 1-0 loss against Northern Ireland last week and missed the 2-1 win over Brighton. However, Klopp confirmed at the end of his press conference that Robertson is available for selection.
