Liverpool fans fume at ‘outrageous’ UEFA Europa League final decision

Liverpool supporters have expressed their frustration with UEFA following the confirmation of their potential ticket allocation for the Europa League final, as determined by the European football governing body.

Under Jurgen Klopp’s leadership, Liverpool has regularly participated in the Champions League; however, their failure to secure qualification for the tournament this season, finishing fifth in the Premier League, led them to enter the Europa League instead.

Now, having progressed to the quarter-finals, Liverpool is set to confront Italian outfit Atalanta.

Liverpool will host the Serie A club on Thursday before heading to Italy for the reverse fixture on April 18. As the current favorites to win the competition, the Reds are optimistic about reaching the final in Dublin on May 22. However, UEFA has announced that if Liverpool makes it to the final, they will only receive 12,000 tickets for the event at the Aviva Stadium, which has a capacity of around 48,000 spectators.

This decision has sparked outrage among the club’s supporters, who expressed their frustration on social media platforms. Despite the disappointment, Liverpool boss Klopp remains focused on the upcoming match against Atalanta, determined to bounce back from their recent draw with Manchester United in the Premier League.

Klopp emphasized that he wouldn’t underestimate Atalanta despite Liverpool being drawn against them.

“Tricky. Atalanta, we played there [before],” he said.

“It’s now not that I watched them since then 500 times but still the same manager, I’m pretty sure a similar structure – which means uncomfortable to play against, very well organised.

“But it’s [a] quarter-final, I didn’t expect – it was not possible actually with all the teams involved – any easy opponent.

“Very interesting, really looking forward to it, let’s see what we can do. But a lot of respect for what Atalanta is doing in the last years, very consistent. Good.”
