Ruben Amorim has already lined up his first three Liverpool signings including world-class defender

A recent report suggests that Ruben Amorim has already identified his initial trio of signings if he assumes the role of Liverpool manager next season. Sky Germany reported on Tuesday that Amorim has verbally committed to succeeding Jurgen Klopp at Anfield following the German’s departure at the end of the season.

However, Liverpool sources have disputed these assertions, despite Amorim being prominently touted as the leading candidate for the managerial position at Anfield.

In 2021, Amorim’s Sporting team achieved a remarkable treble, and notably eliminated Arsenal from the Europa League in the previous season.

Presently, they lead the standings in Portugal’s Primeira Liga, holding a four-point advantage over Benfica, who occupy the second position, with an additional game yet to be played.

The team comprises a blend of youthful talents and seasoned veterans, with players like Viktor Gyokeres, Pedro Goncalves, Ousmane Diomande, and Goncalo Inacio making significant contributions alongside experienced figures such as Sebastian Coates, goalkeeper Antonio Adan, and forward Paulinho.

Reportedly, Amorim is interested in recruiting Inacio and Ousmane Diomande from Sporting to reinforce Liverpool’s defensive lineup, as per Portuguese outlet Jornal Noticias.

The duo has demonstrated an impressive partnership as center-backs for the Portuguese club, prompting their coach to consider integrating them into Liverpool’s squad alongside Virgil van Dijk.

Amorim is reportedly interested in acquiring Sporting midfielder Morten Hjulmand for Liverpool, amid previous links to Tottenham and Arsenal.

Hjulmand, a Denmark international, gained attention when it was revealed he has an Arsenal tattoo, reflecting his childhood support for the Gunners.

Meanwhile, former Liverpool defender Abel Xavier offered insight into what Reds fans can anticipate from Amorim, describing him as humble, discreet, and possessing a clear mindset.

“He put in place his ideas [at previous club Braga], he changed the dynamic, he created empathy, and of course a big club like Sporting Lisbon paid to have him.

“The first thing that this [Sporting] president said was, ‘We believe that the money I’m paying for Ruben Amorim is going to prevail and he’s going to create value in the youth development players and also get results’. He was correct.”
