Liverpool fans turn on one player after crushing Europa League defeat to Atalanta

Liverpool fans directed their frustration towards one player following their crushing defeat to Atalanta in the Europa League. After drawing 2-2 with Manchester United last weekend, Liverpool resumed their European campaign by hosting Atalanta on Thursday.
However, they endured a disappointing 3-0 defeat at Anfield, with Gianluca Scamacca scoring a stunning brace, netting a goal in each half.
Scamacca, formerly associated with West Ham United, opened the scoring before halftime as his shot from inside the box slipped underneath Caoimhin Kelleher’s hands. The Italian forward then secured his brace with a well-placed finish while unmarked in the box. Mario Pasalic added a third goal in the 83rd minute.
Despite Liverpool’s struggles in the second half, they missed several significant chances, notably with Darwin Nunez squandering a golden opportunity in the first half. Nunez found himself through on goal but his decision-making in front of goal was criticized.
He was subsequently substituted in the second half, with fans expressing their dissatisfaction with his performance. Liverpool fans on social media heavily criticized the Uruguayan striker, indicating their frustration with his contribution to the team.

One X user fumed: “And now you see why I was so pissed off with Nunez missing that chance. It’s so f**king important to score your chances.”
A second wrote: “Nunez will never change, this isn’t abuse, I’m just letting you all know that he’ll never change.”
A third added: “I genuinely can’t believe what I’m seeing from Nunez, it’s calamitous.”
A fourth said: “Nunez is just unbelievably dumb. He almost never does the right thing. I don’t know how you coach someone like him.”
Another commented: “Look at the difference between Scammaca and Nunez absolutely hilarious how bad in front of goal he is.”
The return leg goes down next Thursday as Liverpool will look to overturn a first-leg deficit
