Liverpool fans demand player is sold ‘as soon as possible’ after worrying Jamie Carragher comment
In the aftermath of the detrimental loss to Crystal Palace, Liverpool supporters are urging the club to part ways with one of their most longstanding players.
The 1-0 defeat to Palace at Anfield prevented Liverpool from reclaiming the top spot in the Premier League standings. They now sit two points behind reigning champions Manchester City and are tied on points with Arsenal, who have a game in hand against Aston Villa later on Sunday.
Liverpool’s inefficiency in front of goal persisted, mirroring their inability to score in the 3-0 loss to Atalanta in the Europa League on Thursday. Despite several opportunities, Darwin Nunez, Luis Diaz, and Mohamed Salah all squandered significant chances.
Additionally, second-half substitutes Cody Gakpo and Diogo Jota came close but couldn’t find the back of the net.
Jamie Carragher, a Sky Sports commentator and pundit, specifically criticized Salah, noting his struggle to regain top form since his return from a hamstring injury.Carragher remarked on commentary, “Mo Salah hasn’t been at his best, and it’s been noticeable for a few weeks now.”
Despite Liverpool turning down a £150m bid from the Saudi Pro League for Salah in January, there’s ongoing interest from Al Ittihad in the 31-year-old winger.
Some Liverpool supporters are advocating for the club to consider selling Salah when the transfer window reopens this summer. One disgruntled fan expressed this sentiment bluntly, stating, “Sell Salah to Saudis ASAP,” on X platform.
Another fan contributed, stating, “It’s time to offload Salah.”
A third fan expressed frustration, saying, “We can’t afford to have underperforming players at this stage of the season. Let’s sell Salah, bench Diaz, and give Gakpo a chance.”
Another fan bluntly stated, “I hope Salah gets sold in the summer. He seems to be past his prime.”
Despite his recent struggles, Salah has remained one of Liverpool’s most reliable players this season. With 23 goals in 36 appearances across all competitions, he continues to be a potent goal-scoring threat.
Additionally, Salah holds the impressive position of third on the club’s all-time top scorers list with 209 goals.
However, Liverpool could entertain the idea of selling the winger this summer, especially if they receive an offer similar to the substantial bid they rejected in January.
Klopp will surely be banking on Salah to rediscover his form as Liverpool gear up to face Atalanta in the second leg of their Europa League quarter-final on Thursday.
