Real Madrid star announces shock decision to leave the club days after beating Man City

A player from Real Madrid has purportedly declared his intention to depart from the club just days following their elimination of Manchester City from the Champions League.

City’s quest to defend their European title concluded on Wednesday night with a loss to Madrid in a penalty shootout. Despite a valiant effort, midfielders Bernardo Silva and Mateo Kovacic failed to convert their penalties, allowing the Spanish side to secure a spot in the tournament’s semi-finals.

Shortly after their victory over Manchester City, rumors emerged that one of Real Madrid’s key players will depart from the club at the end of the current season.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano’s social media post, Nacho has expressed his desire to leave Real Madrid when his contract expires in June. Romano cited reports from @jfelixdiaz and @marca confirming Nacho’s intention to depart as a free agent.

Nacho, who began his journey with Madrid’s youth system in 2001, made his debut for Real Madrid B in 2009 and went on to make 111 appearances, netting four goals. His senior team debut came in 2011, marking his La Liga debut in a 6-3 victory against Valencia where he started as a left-back.

Since then, the Spaniard has gone on to make 355 appearances across all competitions for Los Blancos, scoring 16 goals in the process.

Against City on Wednesday, Nacho started at the heart of Carlo Ancelotti’s defense alongside Antonio Rudiger and played the entire match.

Speaking after the match, Ancelotti said: “This is a great result obtained with great sacrifice. We defended well, and it was the only way to win here. I congratulated him (Pep Guardiola) and wished him the best of luck for the rest of the season. They progressed last season, and this time, it was our turn. It was a great feat to win today, and I am really happy.”

When asked about Bayern Munich in the next round, Ancelotti said: “It’s interesting because it’s the semifinal and it’s particularly good because we beat Manchester City.”
