How Liverpool could line up under Arne Slot with key Jurgen Klopp signing dropped and new man brought into XI

Liverpool’s quest for a new manager took an unforeseen turn on Tuesday as Feyenoord’s Arne Slot emerged as a prominent candidate for the impending vacancy at Anfield.
Slot, currently managing Feyenoord, has become one of the frontrunners to succeed Jurgen Klopp when the esteemed German departs from his position this summer.
Initially, former Liverpool player Xabi Alonso was considered the top contender to replace Klopp, but he dismissed himself from consideration last month, announcing his decision to remain with Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen for the upcoming season.
With Ruben Amorim reportedly unlikely to secure the Liverpool manager role, the spotlight has shifted to Arne Slot, Feyenoord’s 45-year-old manager.
Slot recently guided Feyenoord to victory in the KNVB Cup, marking his second trophy with the Dutch club, having previously secured the Eredivisie title in the 2022/23 season. His tactical versatility, often employing a 4-2-3-1 formation but adapting as per the opposition, has caught the attention of clubs like Chelsea and Tottenham.
Slot’s style emphasizes high-energy attacking football, with a flexible approach in the front line when pressing, as highlighted by the Coaches’ Voice.
If Slot were to take the helm at Anfield, he would likely implement his preferred tactic of a double pivot in midfield, supported by attacking full-backs in front of a back four.
Key players like Alisson, Andy Robertson, and Trent Alexander-Arnold would retain their starting positions, while Virgil van Dijk could anchor the central defense, possibly alongside Ibrahima Konate.
In midfield, Alexis Mac Allister might continue to shine, potentially partnering with a new signing like Mats Wieffer to bolster the team’s midfield strength.

In the 4-2-3-1 setup, Dominik Szoboszlai would occupy the No. 10 role, leveraging his attacking prowess. On the left flank, Cody Gakpo might edge out Luis Diaz, benefiting from Slot’s familiarity with him from their Eredivisie encounters.
If Mohamed Salah stays at Anfield, he would likely retain his position on the right wing.
Upfront, Darwin Nunez could be favored over the injury-prone Diogo Jota, although Slot may opt to secure a more reliable striker, potentially considering Feyenoord’s Santiago Gimenez, who is reportedly on Liverpool’s radar.
