David De Gea spotted training at English club as former Man Utd goalkeeper makes contract decision

David De Gea has hinted at a possible comeback to club football, nearly a year after declaring his exit from Manchester United.
The 33-year-old ex-Spanish national, who became a free agent in July due to contract negotiations falling through, is actively seeking a new team. Various clubs, such as Real Betis, Bayern Munich, and Al Nassr from the Saudi Pro League, have shown interest, with the latter reportedly prepared to offer him a weekly wage of £250,000.
Despite nearing the end of the 2023/24 season, the goalkeeper is still hesitant about making a move. Last year, there were indications that De Gea favored a return to Spain for his next career step.
Reports from the Daily Mail suggested that his recent marriage in Menorca signaled a preference for settling back in Spain. However, De Gea has remained in the Manchester area and was recently seen training at the J Davidson Stadium, the home ground of National League side Altrincham.
His social media posts, including one with a GIF captioned “I’ll be back” and another featuring a “loading” graphic, hint at a potential return sooner rather than later.

Reports suggest that De Gea is open to a significant reduction in salary from his previous Manchester United contract in order to join a new club.
According to Spanish outlet Estadio Deportivo, La Liga side Real Betis are considering making another attempt to sign the goalkeeper, after being linked with him earlier in the season.
De Gea would need to accept a substantial decrease from his £375,000-per-week deal at Old Trafford, but he reportedly sees the possibility of returning to La Liga in a positive light.
