Liverpool signing loved by Jurgen Klopp ‘could leave’ after just one season at the club

Liverpool is anticipated to experience a bustling summer transfer window, marking their first under new management following Jurgen Klopp’s departure from the club.

Klopp will conclude his tenure as manager at the season’s end, with Feyenoord’s Arne Slot widely anticipated to step in as head coach in a fresh structure at Anfield.

Slot is poised to receive comprehensive support in the transfer market, as Liverpool prepares to return to the Champions League next season and aims to capitalize on what is expected to be a third-place finish in the Premier League.

Alongside anticipated new signings, there are expected to be several departures from Liverpool this summer.

Thiago Alcantara and Joel Matip are poised to leave on free transfers as their contracts expire, coinciding with Klopp’s departure. However, journalist Graeme Bailey suggests a potential surprise exit from the squad.

Bailey, speaking to Rousing The Kop, suggests that midfielder Wataru Endo could depart Liverpool, just a year after his £16 million move from Stuttgart.

Despite making 41 appearances and scoring three goals across all competitions, Endo has caught attention with his consistent displays in his inaugural season in English football. However, Bailey speculates that he might pursue a return to the Bundesliga.

“Obviously Thiago is going, we know that,” he said.

“I think if Endo moves back to Germany at some point it wouldn’t be a major shock.

“He’s come in, done a job, I think he’s done a fine job but you can see him going back to the Bundesliga for sure. He’s not on huge money and they didn’t pay an awful lot for him.”

There are also uncertainties surrounding Ryan Gravenberch, who has faced challenges in making a significant impression this season since his £34 million transfer from Bayern Munich.

However, Bailey suggests that it’s improbable the Netherlands international will be offloaded after just one season at Anfield.

“In regards to Gravenberch, I haven’t heard anything specific, but it’s common in football for some players in the squad not to fit the plans of the new coach coming in,” added Bailey.

“There’ll be some players who aren’t in the team that we don’t foresee. He [Arne Slot] won’t demand people are sold but it will soon become apparent who he likes and who he doesn’t.”
