Liverpool’s ‘next big thing’ who scored 90 goals and is son of Premier League cult hero signs pro contract

Liverpool have tied down the son of a former Premier League cult hero after he scored 90 goals in one season at youth level.
Liverpool has secured the services of the son of a former Premier League fan favorite after his remarkable achievement of scoring 90 goals in a single season at youth level.
Keyrol Figueroa, a talented 17-year-old forward, has earned widespread recognition within Liverpool’s academy, with many anticipating his emergence as the next star at Anfield.
In a significant development, the club announced on Tuesday that Figueroa has signed his inaugural professional contract.
Having joined Liverpool at the under-14 level, Figueroa has consistently showcased his goal-scoring abilities throughout his journey in the youth ranks. Recently, he marked his return from injury by finding the net as a substitute for the under-18s against Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Moreover, Figueroa’s prolificacy was evident when he notched an impressive tally of 90 goals while representing Liverpool’s under-13s and under-14s teams.
Hailing from Tegucigalpa, Honduras, Figueroa follows in the footsteps of his father, former Premier League defender Maynor Figueroa, who enjoyed a commendable career in England with Wigan Athletic. Figueroa Sr. amassed 179 Premier League appearances for the Latics between 2008 and 2015.
Meanwhile, Figueroa Jr. harbors aspirations of making his mark on the international stage, having chosen to represent the United States.

He played a pivotal role by scoring seven goals to propel his country to the final of the CONCACAF U17 Championship in 2023. Additionally, he featured in last year’s Under-17 World Cup, where the US suffered a defeat to Germany in the round of 16.
Liverpool has witnessed the emergence of talents like Jayden Danns and Lewis Koumas in the first team at various junctures this season. Jurgen Klopp, in February, emphasized the importance of not overlooking youth prospects.
Klopp stated, “We’ve mentioned a few times, ‘Maybe the future doesn’t look that bad.’ Perhaps people shouldn’t forget this when the transfer window opens. There are already several promising players within the squad. Let’s not shut the door on them by making signings.”
