List of players who played their last match for Liverpool

When they have aged or no longer hold value to the team, departure becomes unavoidable even for former idols or big stars.

It seems like a transitional period is looming at Anfield, with Jurgen Klopp and most of the coaching staff set to depart, followed by changes in the player roster. While some players are negotiating contract extensions, uncertainty surrounds the futures of others. Three names, in particular, are undoubtedly experiencing their final days wearing the Liverpool jersey

1. Joel Matip

It’s sad news for Liverpool fans as Joel Matip’s time at Anfield seems to be coming to an end. Once a reliable presence in Liverpool’s defense, Matip’s contract is expiring this August, and at 33 with a reduced role, it’s unlikely he’ll be offered a renewal.

His departure would be a loss for the club and its passionate supporters. Matip has been an integral part of Liverpool’s success under Klopp, often partnering with Virgil van Dijk in crucial matches, including the memorable 2019 Champions League final.

2. Thiago Alcantara

Thiago’s time at Liverpool has been overshadowed by injuries, and recent reports suggest the club won’t offer him a contract extension.

This isn’t surprising given his struggle with fitness. His season has been marred by injuries, with only one appearance, likely marking his final game for the Reds.

Liverpool fans may feel regretful as Thiago, a world-class midfielder, arrived at the club when his career was already on the decline, despite his immense talent showcased at Barcelona and Bayern Munich.

3. Adrian

This moment will forever be a beautiful memory for Adrian.

Adrian’s time at Liverpool seems to have come to an end around this time last year. His signing in August 2019 was indeed surprising for fans, and despite being the third-choice goalkeeper, his departure didn’t have a significant impact. However, his most memorable moment at Anfield was his crucial penalty shootout save against Tammy Abraham in the UEFA Super Cup against Chelsea, just 10 days after joining the club.
