Phil Foden makes history after stunning opener during Man City vs West Ham

Phil Foden has made history by scoring for Manchester City against West Ham United.
On Sunday afternoon, the Premier League season concluded with City and Arsenal vying for the title.
For Arsenal to win the title, they needed to defeat Everton at the Emirates Stadium and hope West Ham could take points off City. However, Arsenal’s title hopes were dented early as Foden scored a remarkable opener just two minutes into the game. The Englishman unleashed an unstoppable shot from the edge of the penalty area into the top corner.
This goal marked a historic achievement for Foden. According to Opta Joe on social media: “6 – Phil Foden has scored six goals from outside the box in the Premier League this season; the most by a @ManCity player in a single campaign in the competition. Super.”

Commentating for Sky Sports, former Manchester United defender Gary Neville said: “Phil Foden was voted the best player in the Premier League and he’s just shown us why.”
Former Everton player Leon Osman commented on BBC Radio 5 Live: “Oh wow. This young man Phil Foden just keeps doing wonderful things. Just gets better and better every time you see him. He waits for the move to develop, he is so effective from this central role. He lets the pass from Bernardo Silva run across his body and unleashes a strike with his left foot. Areola has absolutely no chance.”
Eighteen minutes in, Foden doubled City’s lead with a close-range finish after a cross from Jeremy Doku. Neville added: “Pinpoint from Phil Foden and he has had a real impact on this game. I don’t know how he squeezes the ball between the two centre-backs. He has three men around him and he helps it into the corner. Foden makes no mistake!”
