Arne Slot has unique way to improve Darwin Nunez that Jurgen Klopp never used at Liverpool
Arne Slot has a unique method to help enhance Darwin Nunez’s performance following his appointment at Liverpool.
Slot will succeed Jurgen Klopp, having signed a three-year contract at Anfield.
He already has a chant as Klopp created a brilliant song for the Dutch manager, who will officially take up the position on June 1 ahead of the 2024/25 season.
Slot will be responsible for improving his new players, including Nunez, who is one of four players the new Liverpool manager will build his team around.
Nunez faced criticism for his performances this season, scoring 18 goals across all competitions.
This marks an improvement from his debut season in England, where he netted 15 goals in all competitions.
But the 24-year-old’s strength, speed, and determination to continue getting into scoring positions are seen as attributes that can be refined to help him excel next season, according to The Telegraph.
The report also details how Slot helped Santiago Gimenez thrive at Feyenoord this season.
The 23-year-old scored an impressive 26 goals, including 23 league goals, with only Luuk de Jong and Vangelis Pavlidis scoring more goals (29) than him in the Eredivisie.
The 45-year-old coach is known for rebuilding the confidence of forwards during analysis sessions by pausing a video ‘just as he shoots the ball wide’ to help players understand explanations, writes The Telegraph.
Nunez’s erratic finishing frustrated Liverpool fans, but he has potential, having scored 18 league goals since arriving in the Premier League.
And the season before he joined the Reds, he scored an impressive 26 goals in 28 league games for Benfica.
Nunez is not the only player Slot will aim to improve, as the report indicates that Ibrahima Konate and Dominik Szoboszlai are among the other first-team players who have room for growth.
