Additionally, Forest inquired about the possibility of signing Aaron Ramsdale from Arsenal, alongside pursuing De Gea. Before the arrival of Matz Sels from Strasbourg, Forest had targeted Ramsdale, who had previously been a regular starter but lost his place to David Raya.
As the transfer deadline approached, Sels put pen to paper on a three-and-a-half-year contract with Forest, sealing a deal worth £5.1 million. With Sels now on board, Forest’s goalkeeping department comprises four keepers: Matt Turner, Wayne Hennessey, Odysseas Vlachodimos, and Sels.
De Gea’s decision to reject Forest’s offer suggests that he is still in search of a new club to join.
Although the transfer window has closed, the Spanish goalkeeper remains a free agent and retains the option to join a team outside the window.
Throughout his tenure at Manchester United, De Gea featured in 545 games across various competitions, playing a pivotal role in the club’s success on numerous occasions. Furthermore, he earned 45 caps for Spain’s national team. Despite his current search for a new club, De Gea remains an attractive prospect for potential teams owing to his extensive experience and impressive track record.
