How Arne Slot first ever Liverpool line-up could look with Mohamed Salah given new role

Liverpool will be without several key players when they report for pre-season in early July. Up to 12 players could be competing in the European Championships in Germany, with Alisson Becker, Luis Diaz, Darwin Nunez, and Alexis Mac Allister participating in the Copa America, totaling 16 potential absentees. This will impact new head coach Arne Slot’s first starting XI, expected to be quite different from the lineup for the Premier League opener on August 17.

Slot’s first pre-season opponents remain unconfirmed, but Liverpool will face Real Betis, Arsenal, and Manchester United during their US tour from July 27 to August 4. Key players, including Caoimhin Kelleher, Conor Bradley, Kostas Tsimikas, and Harvey Elliott, are likely to feature prominently in the initial friendlies, with many senior internationals absent.

Liverpool’s starting XI for their first pre-season match under Slot could include Kelleher in goal, Bradley and Tsimikas as full-backs, Quansah and Phillips as center-backs, Elliott and Endo in midfield, and Salah, Danns, and Carvalho in attack. The pre-season period will be crucial for Slot to assess his squad and integrate any new signings.
