LIVERPOOL
Liverpool’s new manager, Arne Slot, is poised to make his first signing of the season by acquiring a Manchester City treble winner for £60 million.

Arne Slot has asked Liverpool to pay £51.4 million for a player also sought by Manchester City.
Slot, the Dutch coach, is poised to replace Jurgen Klopp as Liverpool manager this summer, with Klopp stepping down after nine years.
Liverpool have reached an agreement with Slot’s current club, Feyenoord, for the 45-year-old to join Anfield, though the appointment hasn’t been officially confirmed yet.
Slot has expressed his eagerness to manage Liverpool and anticipates the move being finalized soon.
With Feyenoord’s Eredivisie season concluding this weekend, Slot has already started planning for his new team.
He is keen on adding a new playmaker, with RB Leipzig’s Dani Olmo topping his wishlist. The 26-year-old Spaniard can play centrally or on the wings, adding versatility to Liverpool’s attack.
According to the Spanish outlet Nacional, Slot has asked Liverpool to trigger Olmo’s £51.4m release clause before other interested clubs, including Barcelona and Manchester City, make a move. City has shown previous interest in Olmo, with Pep Guardiola being a big admirer.
Liverpool have previously negotiated with Leipzig, signing Dominik Szoboszlai last summer by activating his £60m release clause.
Despite Szoboszlai having a mixed season, Liverpool is not deterred from pursuing another Leipzig player.
Olmo’s release clause should allow Liverpool to avoid lengthy negotiations, unlike City’s experience with Josko Gvardiol last summer.
Olmo is expected to represent Spain in Euro 2024 in Germany this summer, where they will face Italy, Croatia, and Albania in the group stages.
