Man Utd player ‘rejects deal’ and will leave club amid decision to keep Erik ten Hag as manager
Another departure from Manchester United has been confirmed following the news that Erik ten Hag will remain at Old Trafford.
After an in-depth end-of-season review that lasted two weeks and included discussions with potential candidates, United’s new owners INEOS have reportedly decided to retain Ten Hag. This decision comes after he led the club to an FA Cup final victory over Manchester City. Talks over a new deal for Ten Hag are now set to intensify.
United released a total of seven players in a summer clear-out, with notable exits including Anthony Martial, Raphael Varane, and Brandon Williams.
In a club statement, United also mentioned that youngster Omari Forson had been offered a new deal and was included in their retained list. However, Forson rejected the terms offered, and his contract will expire at the end of the month.
Forson has already secured a move to Serie A side Monza, who have branded him “one of the most promising prospects in Europe.” The 19-year-old, having come through United’s ranks, left in pursuit of regular football and signed a four-year deal with the Lombardy outfit.
Ten Hag gave Forson his United debut in an FA Cup win over Wigan last season, where he assisted Kobbie Mainoo’s winner against Wolves in his Premier League debut. Forson played seven times in all competitions, including the FA Cup semi-final against Coventry City.
On Instagram, Forson shared a picture of himself with Ten Hag on the touchline, accompanied by a message expressing his gratitude. He wrote: “Appreciate all the opportunities you gave me. Gonna show the world what you saw in me a long time ago.”
