MAN UTD BLOCKED FROM SIGNING ONE OF THEIR TOP TARGETS THIS SUMMER DUE TO UEFA RULES

Manchester United have been **BLOCKED** from signing one of their top transfer targets this summer.
With INEOS and Sir Jim Ratcliffe planning significant changes to the squad, it’s expected to be a busy summer transfer window for Man United. A centre-back is a priority following Raphael Varane’s departure as his contract expires this summer.
Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite is one of United’s key targets, though the club’s initial bid was deemed “disrespectful.” They are also monitoring Jean-Clair Todibo from Nice. However, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports that United’s pursuit of Todibo has been hindered by UEFA rules.
Due to INEOS having a controlling stake in both Nice and Manchester United, UEFA prohibits transfers between clubs participating in the same European competition next season, as both teams have qualified for the Europa League. Romano tweeted, “Jean-Clair Todibo deal for Man United is currently off and highly unlikely due to UEFA rules. Talks were advanced with all parties keen for months but Nice and Man Utd with same ownership playing same European competition next season means no green light.”
The prospect of UEFA blocking the Todibo deal has angered Man United fans, who pointed to Manchester City’s transfer of Savio, who spent last season on loan at Girona, a club partially owned by City. Mark Goldbridge tweeted, “How are City able to do it then?” Another fan added, “It’s fine if Oil City FC do it with Girona but we can’t?? Cool. 116 charges then.” A third questioned, “How does that work? Savio joined City lol.”
Savio’s parent club is Ligue 2 side Troyes, which is also part of the City Football Group, allowing the deal to proceed.
