According to a report by MARCA, manager Carlo Ancelotti has made a decision regarding Real Madrid midfielder Arda Guler’s future, amidst reported interest from Liverpool. The Turkish international joined the Spanish giants last summer but has been suggested for a move to gain more game time.

Guler played a limited role in the team that won La Liga and the UEFA Champions League last season. He made 12 appearances across competitions and scored six goals in his debut campaign with Los Blancos. At 19, the midfielder needs regular football at the highest level to reach his full potential. Carlo Ancelotti has decided that he will best develop by competing for a spot in the Real Madrid team. The Turkish midfielder has been impressive at Euro 2024, scoring a fine goal in his country’s opening match against Georgia. His passing ability and composure on the ball have undoubtedly attracted admirers who may want to test Real Madrid’s resolve. Liverpool is reportedly interested in acquiring the midfielder, but this now seems unlikely following the manager’s decision. For now, Arda Guler will focus on his nation’s next European fixture against Portugal on June 22.

According to Rafael Leao, Real Madrid midfielder Arda Guler is one of the best young players in the world at the moment. The AC Milan and Portugal winger shared his admiration for the Turkish midfielder during the lead-up to their clash at Euro 2024. The Milan winger, one of the most dangerous forwards himself, admitted to the press that he enjoys watching the midfielder, saying (via Get Football News Spain):

“Arda Güler is a great talent. His left foot is magnificent. He’s a player I watch with pleasure.”

Portugal and Turkey face each other in the second round of group-stage matches at Euro 2024, each with a win to their name. Portugal beat the Czech Republic 2-1 in their opening game while Turkey were 3-1 victors over Georgia. Both teams know a win will secure qualification to the next stage and will be eager to achieve this before their final group-stage game.
