Reports indicate that a Manchester United legend has been approached to join Erik ten Hag’s coaching staff, signaling a potentially significant development.

Ten Hag is gearing up for the 2024/25 season with support from INEOS and Sir Jim Ratcliffe following a season-end review at Manchester United. According to Fabrizio Romano, Ten Hag is eager to bring Ruud van Nistelrooy back to the club. Romano reveals that Van Nistelrooy has been contacted to join Ten Hag’s new coaching team.

A decision is anticipated next week, with Van Nistelrooy also considered as a potential replacement for Vincent Kompany at Burnley. Romano alluded to possible changes within the Manchester United staff.

Burnley have commenced discussions with Ruud van Nistelrooy about their vacant managerial position. His most recent senior management role was at PSV Eindhoven during the 2022/23 season, where he resigned due to a perceived lack of support.

The Clarets, who were relegated from the Premier League last season, are keen to lure him back to England. However, they face competition from Manchester United, where Van Nistelrooy had a highly successful playing career.

During his tenure at Old Trafford, Van Nistelrooy made 219 appearances and scored an impressive 150 goals in all competitions. He was instrumental in Manchester United’s Premier League victory in the 2002/03 season and also achieved wins in the FA Cup and League Cup.
