It’s been an honor’ – Marcos Alonso sends touching farewell message to Barcelona
Marcos Alonso has bid farewell to Barcelona fans following confirmation that he will be leaving the club after his contract expired. The left-back, who spent two years at Barcelona and won two trophies during his tenure, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to wear the blaugrana shirt.
Taking to Instagram, Alonso wrote: “It has been an honor to wear the blaugrana shirt. I take a lot of things from these two seasons but I would like to highlight the affection of all the culés and the atmosphere in a spectacular dressing room, in addition to a League and a Spanish Super Cup. Thank you to all the club workers who make FC Barcelona so much more than a club. Wish you all the best for what’s coming I’ll be cheering from home as usual. Long live Barca.”
Alonso fulfilled a childhood dream when he joined Barcelona on a free transfer from Chelsea in 2022. His father, a former player for the club, played a significant role in fostering his passion for Barcelona, taking him to games at the Camp Nou during his youth.
As Alonso looks towards the future, he expressed readiness to seek new opportunities in the 2024-25 season, although his destination remains uncertain at this time.
